About

Founded in New Orleans, Louisiana in 2005.  Issus Discovery is a boutique ESI company that specializes in one important area of the litigation industry – ESI hosting and management.  While other national litigation support companies handle a broad range of litigation services, at Issus Discovery we feel that ESI management is a specialized discipline that requires absolute focus and attention.

With a specialized staff, we offer a focused practice geared only toward the management of ESI. Large heavily, staffed litigation support vendors generally employ administrative teams that offer a broad range of services and are strategically designed to offer a range of legal services to clients.

Conversely, Issus Discovery ONLY offers services in more concentrated areas in the ESI arena and we are experts in this area. At “Big Vendor” the levels of experience of staff tend to be mixed but because Issus Discovery implements a  boutique approach to ESI, our staff is concentrated to provide the highest level of support and service and we are more selective when taking on clients than “Big Vendor” firms.

Because our boutique practices have a more concentrated focus, not all clients will be a good fit as we do not provide printing or copying services, of any of the other general services that large national vendors might offer.

What this means is that by offering a higher level of expertise and client service we have more flexibility with what we charge.  This means we offer alternative fee structures when it comes to ESI hosting and management which,
As mentioned, one of the big differences between “Big Vendor” and our boutique approach is that we tend to be more selective when taking on clients. With fewer cases to manage and a more specific client base, Issus Discovery can focus more on delivering personalized, client-centered service to the clients that they can help best.

The name is unique, we know.

The name comes from antiquity and was the name of town where a great battle, “The Battle of Issus”  occurred in southern Anatolia in 333 BC between the Hellenic League led by Alexander the Great and the Achaemenid Empire, led by Darius III. The Battle of Issus, was the second great battle of Alexander’s conquest of Asia, the first being the “The Battle of Granicus” near the Biga River in current day Turkey.

The battle took place south of the ancient town, which is close to the present-day Turkish town of Iskenderun or the Turkish equivalent of “Alexandria”, founded by Alexander to commemorate his victory.

Essentially the battle was a conflict between the East and the West.  The Battle of Issus was a decisive Hellenic victory and it marked the beginning of the end of Persian power. It was the first time the Persian army had been defeated in over 200 years.

The battle has been depicted several times throughout history in paintings and was documented by Callisthenes‘, a well known Greek historian in Macedon, who accompanied Alexander the Great during the Asiatic expedition. The philosopher Aristotle was Callisthenes’ great uncle.

In this battle, the Macedonians were greatly outnumbered but thru excellent leadership and tactics the smaller force led by Alexander was able to outmaneuver and quickly defeat the larger forces of Darius III.

This is our view at Issus Discovery – a smaller, focused and experienced force can handle large challenges thru leadership, skill and action.
